The Cottage, situated in the quaint little village of Linton close to the old market town of Skipton, was a project won by Landmarks UK Ltd to undertake a complete internal refurbishment and small double story extension to the northern elevation that adjoined the neighbouring property.
The project involved a complete strip out and remodelling of the interior to significantly improve the design and layout of the existing property. This included the transformation of the ground floor to create a more contemporary, open plan living space and the alteration and redesign of the first floor to greatly improve the bedroom layouts and to create additional modern bathroom and en-suite.
The project featured bespoke, handcrafted amenities including a custom-made steel fabricated staircase with solid oak treads and a clear glazed balustrade with a floating timber handrail. The client also commissioned a bespoke designer kitchen complete with handcrafted wall and base units with a centre island and marble worktops. The property also featured engineered oak flooring to the ground floor with full height tiled bathrooms and custom made double glazed timber sash windows and French doors to fit the unusually shaped openings in this old styled 18th century cottage. Landmarks also installed a modern wood burner to the living room for comfort during the winter months.
The team installed a large triple glazed roof light in the GRP roof of the new extension which was positioned over the newly commissioned staircase to significantly improve the natural light that was able to flood through from the first floor right through to the ground floor and into the kitchen giving the property a new lease of life.
As well as improving the aesthetics of the interior and exterior, Landmarks were able to improve the insulation performance of the property by introducing our Nudura retrofit board which we were able to utilise on all of the existing external walls and roof space to considerably improve the properties thermal and energy efficiency.
The renovation of the property was complete within 22 weeks from demolition to decoration and everything in-between; Landmarks were able to hand back the property to an extremely happy and satisfied client.
This project was completed by the small projects team at Landmarks UK Ltd.
